Job 7:4-5

When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day. My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome.

Thought For Today

Have you ever seen someone who couldn’t keep a steady job? They’ve gone through more jobs than Carter has liver pills. I believe we probably all have.

Or have you ever noticed a church has a new pastor every time you turn around? Some pastors move around so much that God doesn’t even know where they’re at. (Humor).

Every pastoral leadership meeting I attend, I hear the phrase: don’t be that pastor who leaves a church every two years. Hang in there and ride out the storm.

Sometimes, people experience a case of restlessness. To clarify, it may not be that they were not happy, but they have not found a place of rest and satisfaction.

Our devotional scripture expresses the feeling of restlessness. Job 7:4-5, When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings to and fro unto the dawning of the day. My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome.

From the day Jesus began his ministry, he brought peace everywhere He traveled. At His baptism, we see a dove descending from heaven. We see peace resolve a storm for the disciples. John 14:25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Real peace comes from God. So be filled with the Spirit of God and resolve your moments of restlessness.
