“A Stitch In Time Saves Nine”
" As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance"
(Psalms 42:1-5)
Thought For Today:
I was once asked how to get through difficult times. It's a good question, but the answer depends on the situation. Sometimes, you may just need to rely on God and exercise self-control. However, the best way to handle any situation is through preparation. In the Police Department, we train for survival, so we can be ready to face any challenges that come our way. Have you ever heard the saying, “A stitch in time saves nine”. This is why Paul urged Timothy to study in 2 Timothy 2:15. When we study God's word and apply it we are preparing ourselves. When Paul instructed the church to put on the whole armor of God in Ephesians 6:10-18, he was urging them to be prepared for spiritual battles. Proper prior planning is the key to preventing poor performance. Let's ensure we plan well in advance to avoid any mistakes. I think David may have said it best when he penned, "I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD" (Psalms 27:13-14). David was always prepared for war, as one priest told Absalom, his son, during his attempt to steal the kingdom. In other words, David understood strategy. When faced with challenges, put your training into action and wait for the Lord to guide you through and bring you to the other side.
