Back To School
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Galatians 3:24-29)
Thought For Today:
It's that time of year when people all over the world are returning to school to continue their education and move forward. As believers, we must also strive to further our understanding of the Word and the things of God. Just like Paul, who was an educator in spiritual matters, we need to study and show ourselves approved by God (2 Timothy 2:15). Paul instructed Timothy to share what he had learned with trustworthy individuals who could then teach others (2 Timothy 2:2). Additionally, in his letter to the Philippians, Paul emphasized the importance of contentment, regardless of one's circumstances (Philippians 4:11). In his message to the Galatian church, he explained that the law acted as our teacher and guided us to Christ. When we delve into the Old Testament, we gain a better understanding of Jesus and how he relates to our lives. Paul cautioned us against being led astray by human philosophies and empty deceit, and instead to follow Christ. He emphasized that Christ embodies the fullness of God's divine nature and that we are complete in him. Isaiah's inquiry about who can learn and comprehend doctrine reveals that we must progress beyond basic knowledge in order to gain a deeper understanding. We must learn precept upon precept, line upon line, and little by little to fully grasp the teachings. The precepts that guide our moral behavior are especially important, and they are intended for those who are no longer infants in their faith. Therefore, we must move beyond spiritual infancy and delve deeper into the Word by studying and attending school.
