Cease The Opportunity

Luke 18:35-43

And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the wayside begging: And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

Thought For Today:
Have you ever been so consumed with a problem that you forgot to ask Jesus for help?  Most people feel that they can take care of things by themselves, and so they don't care to ask Jesus for His help.  I've heard people say that Jesus is for those who are weak. Yeah, that is a true statement, but we gain strength through Jesus. I wonder how many people in the crowd that day had needs but never asked Jesus for help as he passed through Jericho.  On the outskirts of town sat a blind man who would ask for help. When he heard a commotion, he asked what it was about. Perhaps he inquired about the reason for the commotion. Maybe he asked if there was a festival or a royal entrance taking place, or if it was a legion of soldiers passing by. But the people around him informed him that it was Jesus of Nazareth who was passing by. Maybe he had heard about the miracles that Jesus had performed for others, or perhaps he knew about the prophecies of the coming of the Messiah. The man in question found himself in a situation where he had no one else to turn to for help. He decided to reach out to Jesus and test his faith, wondering if Jesus would be able to help him. In desperation, he shouted out, "Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me." To his astonishment, Jesus heard him and stopped to see what he needed.  It is truly remarkable how Jesus always listens to those who approach Him with a sincere heart and faith. In one instance, a blind man pleaded with Jesus to restore his sight. Jesus responded by saying, "Receive thy sight, thy faith has saved thee." We should never let an opportunity to approach Jesus slip away from us, as we never know when we might get another chance.
