But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
Thought For Today:
All emergency responders know the term ETA. Responding to emergencies must be done expediently. Time is of the essence. It’s a comforting feeling to hear in the distance, the sound of sirens, when you are trying to comfort a severely injured patient. However there are times, when waiting on an ambulance, that the 911 dispatcher must call the ambulance service and ask for a Expected Time of Arrival. This gives us an idea of how far out, or when to expect help. Wouldn’t you like to call heaven and get an ETA when you are suffering in this life. What about an ETA for the soon return of Christ? Whether we know it or not we all have an ETA for our heavenly destination.
Would you say that you are ready for your heavenly home? Shouldn't we who say that we are Christians be excited about the move? We all have an ETA, Expected Time of Arrival. Paul said, "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." Are you ready?
