Faith And Works

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone... For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. (James 2:17; 26)

Thought For Today:

Not to long ago, I bought a 1999 Nissan pickup. The gas gauge said it had a quarter tank of gas, and I wasn't aware that the gauge wasn't working properly. So when it stopped along the highway, my first reaction was that it was engine failure. But once my wife arrived with a gas can full of fuel, I realized that it wasn’t engine failure, it was “my failure”, when I should have filled up sooner than later. I could have had a wrecker deliver it to a mechanic, believing that by faith the fuel gauge was correct, and refused to believe that it was out of gas, but I would have just thrown my money away. This is an example of how faith and works need one another. The truck would have carried me to my destination if I would have put a little (works) with my faith.

James said faith without works is dead. If you say that you have faith, but you have no works your faith is going to be dead. Sometimes we have to extend ourselves by doing what we are told to do, because God may be testing our faith. Remember every time you do (Godly works) you are planting a seed. Once the seed is planted, faith which is the water can enable the seed to grow. If you don’t plant the seed and you expect plenty of water to produce a watermelon, you will never see results.
