Get Up
And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not. And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not. And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean. And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And Peter went out, and wept bitterly. (Luke 22:57-62)

How do you handle failure? When you make a "D" on a test instead of an "A" are you disappointed? How do you handle it? When you are let go from your job because they no longer need you, how do you feel? When you have invited guests and your meal is ruined, how do you respond? We should not fear failure, but see it as an opportunity to correct an error and move forward. Do you ever look for humor in your failure? Many people become depressed and go into seclusion because of certain failures. Your failure should not identify you. When people are crowned champions, most people never look at how many times they've failed before their achievements. They just see a champion. If you review the 11th chapter of Hebrews, the faith chapter, you will notice that almost everyone mentioned failed at one time or another. Abraham and Sarah both got caught in their lies. Moses killed a man. David violated all ten commandments and yet he was called a man after God's own heart. And the list could go on and on. But the most important thing about their failures is that they rose up. David repented of his sin and God forgave him. Moral failure can oftentimes be seen with more of a drastic measure than other failures. But failure becomes the outcome if you don't do something to overcome it. Peter's failure could have driven him away from God, but it didn't. Because of repentance, it drew him closer. He wept bitterly for his actions. Many people would have said, "I don't want him to be the leader over me." But God saw fit to use Peter to open the door to the New Testament church on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2). So don't allow your failures to keep you down. Jesus got up after three days, and you should too!
