Heart Offerings
And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living" (Mark 12:41-44).
Thought For Today:
Does your offering impress God? The only way to impress Him is to give from your heart. If God has your heart, He has you and anything that you do will please Him. Jesus noticed everyone's offering that day. And He said to the disciples, "Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living." What about you, are you giving out of your abundance or your heart? Not all of your money, but all of you? God doesn't want just part of you, He wants all of you. Jesus took notice of the widow's offering. So, what was unique about her offering compared to everyone else's? Her offering was a sacrificial offering. She gave her best offering when she gave it from the heart. Would it be fair to say that if our offering doesn't move us then they won't move God? When Abraham offered Isaac, it was a sacrificial offering and it moved God so that God said to Abraham, "For now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me" (Genesis 22:12). That kind of giving causes God to respond. Even Abel's offering moved God. And the writer of Hebrews says of it, "By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh" (Hebrews 11:4). When your offering moves you, it'll move God too.
