Human Tabernacles
How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. (Psalms 84:1-4)
Thought For Today:
It is said that wherever God dwells, beauty can be found. According to scripture, God makes all things beautiful in His own time. While some individuals may strive to make themselves beautiful, this beauty is only temporary. However, if we allow God to work within us and make us beautiful in His time, the effects will be long-lasting. As the tabernacle of God, we must understand the holiness of God to fully appreciate His beauty. Since God dwells within us, we should not conform to the ways of the world. If we begin to adopt worldly ways, we will eventually become indistinguishable from the world. While tattoos and body piercings may be popular in the world, there is no beauty in them if they do not glorify God. Similarly, if worldly dress standards do not give glory to God, we should not adopt them. The psalmist states, "How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts." This means that it is pleasant and enjoyable to be in God's presence. As God's dwelling place on earth, it is our actions and attitudes that reflect Jesus to the world. Are you a friendly and pleasant person? Do people smile when they see you? Our actions and attitudes should always reflect God's beauty and love to the world.
