John 13:21-25
When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake. He then lying on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?
THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
When I reach heaven, I'd like to ask Adam and Eve why they ate the forbidden fruit. Then I would like to talk to the Apostle Paul about his experiences. I want to hear Peter and John's stories of traveling with Jesus. And ultimately I want to spend time with Jesus. What a wonderful day that will be.
When Jesus said that one of His disciples would betray Him, they wanted to know who it was. So Peter asked John to ask Jesus who it was since John seemed to be closer to Jesus. And so John said, "Lord, who is it?" John seemed to be closer to Jesus than most. He is called the disciple whom Jesus loved. He is the disciple who is exiled to the island of Patmos and given a glimpse into heaven, and he is the writer of the book of Revelation. Like John, we should all strive to walk closely with Jesus and be able to listen to His heartbeat. We should feel so close to Jesus that we can ask Him anything. "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:1-5). I believe God wants us to have a close connection with Him.
