Know What God Expects of Us

“The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness" (Proverbs 10:32)

Thought For Today:

Solomon said, "The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable."  If we know what is acceptable, then why are people trying to give God something that isn't acceptable.  When Cain brought his offering to the Lord, the Lord rejected it and told him, "If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him"(Genesis 4:7).  Somewhere, Cain had been taught the correct way.  He knew what a sacrificial offering was supposed tolook like.  But he chose to do it his way and it was rejected.  Then he became angry.  I believe thar there's a lot of people that know being born again accordingto Acts 2:38 is what God expects of us, but they still want to do it their way.   Jesus said,  "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it"(Matthew 7:21-27).  So what does the Lord require of us?  "But to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good" (Deuteronomy 10:12-13)?
