Pray For The Faint Hearted

Luke 18:1-8

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Thought For Today:

I have seen a sad trend with some that the longer they are in the church, the more shallow their faith becomes. Shouldn't it be that the longer one is in the church, the stronger their faith is? If we are sons of God, shouldn't we know Our Father and what He is capable of doing? Shouldn't our faith in Our Father be of such a level that there is no doubt in our minds of His capabilities? When the writer of Hebrews admonished us, "But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak" (Hebrews 6:9), he was saying that your faith should never drop below par. He was saying there are just some things that came with your salvation that you should know and have developed in you now. He said that your faith should be the same or even higher than when you first came to know God. Jesus said men ought always to pray and not to faint.

He spoke of the woman who wanted her adversary gone and spoke to her persistence in finding the one who could do something about it. And then He said, shall he find faith on the earth when the Son of man cometh? In other words, am I going to find the same persistence of faith you had in Me when you began? Jesus gave us the key to achieving and maintaining this kind of faith when He said that men should always pray. Prayer is putting your faith in God. If we pray, "Lord, Thy will be done," in all our prayers, we won't be discouraged if what we want doesn't happen. We prayed that His will be done, not ours. Someone said, "If you're going to worry, don't pray. But if you are going to pray, then don't worry."
