Prepare for the Test
1 Samuel 3:1
And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision"
Thought For Today:
How much value do you place on memorizing the Word of God? Amos tells us, "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD"(Amos 8:11). The Lord said through the prophet Hosea, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge "(Hosea 4:6). Solomon said, "Where there is no vision, the people perish"(Proverbs 29:18). And Samuel said, "That the word of the Lord was precious because there was no open vision." The people had no direction. We value something that is precious, and dear to us. You value it with your whole heart. The Word of the Lord should be precious to us. We should do every thing in our power to hold on to it. The Word of God is a light unto our feet and a light unto our pathway. It is a comfort in our times of affliction. So the next time you are facing a low point in your life, ask yourself, what scripture can I turn to for strength and encouragement? What scripture can I cling to for victory. If you can't think of one, or if you cannot quote one, or if nothing seems to come to mind, its time to gauge your level of trust in God’s Word. Be determine to spend more time hiding the Word of God in your heart through memorization and meditation. Remember, it was the Word that Jesus used to defeat Satan. Let me encourage you, hide the Word in your heart because you will need it. Ask Job! Remember the better prepared you are the more likely you are to survive the test. So prepare yourself with the Word of God.
