Preserve Life

Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren. And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard. And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence. And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt. Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life (Genesis 45:1-5).

Thought For Today

In reality, this is what the apostle Paul was willing to do, give his life so that others may live (Acts 20:24). This should be our church motto.

Are you aware that God has chosen you to preserve life? Jesus said, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” (Mark 16:15-16).

A bridge of opportunity is created for people when we share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Romans 10:13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? This means that when you go, you are going so that you may preserve life. You are saving people from eternal damnation. The Gospel is the word of reconciliation to bring people back into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Joseph told his brethren not to be angry with themselves for selling him into slavery because God sent him before them to preserve life. Nothing happens in your life that God isn’t aware of. God may have sent you into a storm so that you can ultimatly preserve the life of someone who is perishing. So open your spiritual ears and listen. There may be someone trying to recover from foolish and tragic decissions and God has sent you there to help them. Let me encourage you today, witness, and tell others about Jesus, become a Sunday school teacher, give a Bible study or just befriend the so-called outcast, you just might preserve someone else’s life.
