Should We Be Relevant?

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

 Thought For Today:
Why does it seem that the church is trying to stay relevant with the world? Many are changing their church schedules, music styles, teachings standards, and even preaching standards trying to stay up-to-date with the world. Isn't Jesus the head of the church? Isn't the Holy Ghost its power and the Word its guide? If Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, why do we keep changing? Why are we writing new Bibles, doesn't the one I have now still serve its purpose? I was told not to add to nor take away from the Word of God. Didn't Jesus tell us, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen" (Matthew 28:19-20). Shouldn't kids be exposed to God's ways? As Paul told the church at Galatia: "O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh" (Galatians 3:1-3)? And as he told the church at Colossi: "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power" (Colossians 2:8-10). Since Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, I think I'll just remain old school, in faith, hope, love, doctrine and the Word.
