Speech Therapy
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof"
(Proverbs 18:21).
Thought For Today:
When someone speaks something negative to you pause and quote this scripture. Look at people's faces when you tell them that both life and death are in the power of their tongue.
When I say to them, "You know, how you speak can kill someone or build them up, as well as yourself." If we aren't careful, we can become our own worst enemy by the words we speak from our mouths. Granted, there are times you may need to raise your voice if someone's life is in danger. But yelling and screaming to get a point across isn't needed. James tells us that blessings and cursing should not come from the same mouth (James 3:10).
David prayed that God would let the words of his mouth and the meditation of his heart, be acceptable in the sight of the Lord (Psalms 19:14). Jesus said that it's not what goes into a man that defiles him, but what comes out. Is God pleased with the words that proceed from your mouth?
