Sweet Smelling Flowers
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. (Ephesians 5:1-2)
Thought For Today:
Spring is my favorite time of the year. Aromatic flowers saturate the air with their beauty and fragrance. Baby birds begin chirping and singing, expressing the essence of new life. All of God's creation seems to spring forth with newness of life at this time of year. What about you and me? Can people recognize the freshness in our lives? Can they smell and see the aroma and beauty of Christ in us? Paul calls for us to "Be ye, therefore, followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savor." If our praise and worship do not rise to Him as a sweet aroma—filled with delight and enjoyment—and if others cannot perceive His presence emanating from us, we might be too distant from Him and lacking vitality in our new life. His words exhibit a sweetness surpassing that of honey and honeycomb. Furthermore, the sole method to attract bees for the production of additional honey is to ensure that your flower emits a pleasant fragrance.
