Traps
Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. (Acts 12:1-5)
Thought For Today:
Do you ever feel like you are trapped and that there is no way out of your situation? Do you ever feel like all hope is lost and so why keep trying? Does it feel like every time you try, you just seem to fall back into that same old trap again? What does it mean to be trapped? A trap is a situation or place where it is difficult to escape. Confined, restricted, or under someone else's power. Or it could be an ambush, scheme, or trick intended to catch someone unaware and put the person at a disadvantage or under somebody else's power. God doesn't want you to be trapped. When Jesus walked into the synagogue and they ask him to read, He chose Isaiah chapter 61 and read these words. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord" (Luke 4:18-19). Once you know truth, you are made free. (John 8:32;36).
