Walk In The Spirit
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. .. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. (Galatians 5:16-17; 25-26).
Thought For Today:
A man once asked, "How do I walk in the Spirit?" The first question to answer is, "Do you have the Spirit?" The Spirit is Christ in you. It's the Holy Ghost operating within you. James tells us to not just be a hearer of the Word, but we must be a doer of the Word (James 1:22). Our actions, attitudes, ambitions, and aspirations must reflect Christ in all that we say and do. John tells us, "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked"(1 John 2:6). If we have the Spirit of God within us, then we will walk as Christ did. Jesus exemplified mercy, grace, love, forgiveness, and more. As His followers, we should emulate Him. Do you possess these same traits in your life? If not, then you aren't walking in the Spirit. But if you are, then don't change. As Paul told the Colossian church, " For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins" (Colossians 1:9-14). If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking and envying one another.
