A Christian Should Be…
Philippians 2:1-8
If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross"
Thought For Today:
It’s hard to find unselfish people. Most people seem to present a me-first attitude. I am afraid that the church is guilty of being self-centered as well. Paul tells us, "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would" (Galatians 5:14-17). One of the most important traits of a Christian should be unselfishness. We must be willing to put others before ourselves. Paul said that even though Jesus was God in the flesh, as a human, He humbled Himself and went to Calvary so that we could live. And because Jesus did that for us, he said we ought to take into consideration the feelings and needs of others.
