Afraid

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)

What is the number one thing you are afraid of? When I was young, I was afraid of dark rooms, and dads belt. But over a period of time, I was able to understand that all I had to fear was fear itself. Fear, John said, torments us. In other words, it causes pain, suffering, distress and anguish. If you allow it, fear will drive you crazy. John tells us that fearful people are not made perfect in love. He also tells us that God is love. "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love"(1 John 4:8). And John also tells us, "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world"(1 John 4:4). God is greater than all our fears. Because we are His children, we should not fear. So fret no little flock because God is perfect and God is love, and if we allow Him to be in us, fear will have to depart from our lives. God doesn't give us fear but love, power, and a sound mind.
