There’s Only One I In Commitment
"Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil."
(Psalms 37:3-8)
Thought For Today:
What level of commitment do you have towards your marriage, job, church, family, and God? Our current social media-focused, instant gratification society has led to a lack of commitment in many areas. Some are hesitant to get married and instead choose to cohabit due to the commitment it requires. Others are reluctant to fully devote themselves to God and be an active part of their church due to the commitment it entails. Some hesitate to start a family, as it demands commitment. Job losses often occur due to a lack of commitment. For instance, a woman once told me she might not return to church because there wasn't a nursery for her son, meaning she had to take care of him during the service. Essentially, she wanted someone else to commit to caring for her child, not her. When individuals are not committed to the ways of God, it is unlikely they will demonstrate commitment in other areas of their lives. It's important to remember that the word "commitment" contains only one "I," emphasizing the personal responsibility it entails.
