Firm Foundations

For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. (1 Corinthians 3:9-14)

Thought For Today:

The story of the three little pigs was always one of my favorite childhood stories. The pigs chose certain materials to build their house. One with straw, one with sticks, and one with brick. After they were all built, the big bad wolf came to attack the pigs. The wolf easily destroyed the houses that were built out of straw and sticks. But the pig whose house was built with brick was still left standing. I don't know about you, but I think I'll build my house with something solid. I believe I will build my house from the Word of God, as Satan will keep trying to blow my house down. Paul said for other foundations, can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. If we build on the foundational base of His Word, which He has given to us, we do not have to worry about our house suffering from the fiery trials that come into our lives. Jesus said, "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock"(Matthew 7:24-25). How are you building your life?
