God Is A Deliverer

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: (2 Peter 2:4-9)

Thought For Today:

To me, the story of Lot is probably one of the saddest stories in the Bible.  Here you have a man who, by all accounts, should have been righteous; he lived a virtuous, life after following and observing his uncle Abraham. But he found himself right amid a cesspool of sin and debauchery.  The apostle Peter wrote that God knows how to deliver us from our sins.  He used Lot as an example of the delivering power that God has.  He wrote, "And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)."  Notice what Peter said of Lot, "He vexed his righteous soul day in and day out hearing and seeing their wicked and filthy conversations."  But there is no indication that Lot tried to relocate from this place.  Even his son-in-law laughed at him when he told them that God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrha.  From what we see taking place in our world today, we are again back inside of Sodom and Gomorrah.  Now you can sit still and be part of the destruction process when Jesus sends His angels, or you can allow God to deliver you now. "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."(Acts 2:37-39).  God hasn't lost His power to deliver you, but you are going to have to follow His instructions for getting out.
