Stop And See

"At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day" (Matthew 12:1-8)

Thought For Today:
I enjoy viewing historical roadside monuments. If someone takes the time to display these sites, there must be some value in them. So, I stop and read them. Unfortunately, too many people today do not. Jesus asked the Pharisees if they remembered reading what King David did when he was hungry. What Jesus was getting at was that if they had read about King David, they would have known who He (Jesus) was. Many today do not know who Jesus is because they have not read the most important history book, the Bible. They would see things differently if they read and applied His teachings to their lives. Jesus' comment also speaks to us as well. As Paul told Timothy, "Study to shew yourself approved unto God (2 Timothy 2:15). God wants us to know Him. He doesn't want us to lack the knowledge of who He is. If you lack knowledge of Christ today, why not open the history book, the Bible, to the book of John and start reading? It will open your understanding. If you are looking for hope, then read the book of Psalms, and you’ll find that it will encourage your heart because the entire book is all about Him.
