The Feast Of Passover
Exodus 12:43-51
And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof: But every man's servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof. A foreigner and a hired servant shall not eat thereof. In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof. All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee and will keep the Passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. Thus did all the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they. And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.
Thought For Today:
The Lord told Moses that there was to be only one law for the Passover. Whether someone was an Israelite or a stranger who had joined them, they were all required to observe the Passover law. There were three feasts that the Israelites were to keep yearly. The Feast of Passover, the Feast of Pentecost, and the Feast of the Tabernacle. The Passover commemorates the Israelites' liberation from slavery in Egypt, Pentecost celebrates the giving of the law, and the Tabernacle is a reminder of the Israelites' journey through the wilderness and the harvest season. But there was only one law for everyone. In so many ways, we, the church, should be keeping these feasts. The day God brought us out of the world, our own Holy Ghost infilling, and our daily thanksgiving. Paul said, "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Galatians 3:24-29). When we look at scripture, there’s only one wat to become a child of God. Jesus gave only one way to be born again and that is of the water and spirit. The apostle Peter was given the keys to the kingdom of God on the Day of Pentecost, a feast day they were all supposed to observe. When the people present asked him what they should do, he replied, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. This promise is for you, your children, and for all who are far off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." (Acts 2:38-39). Easter is approaching and those who choose to celebrate will observe the Feast of Passover.
