Who Shall Declare His Generation?

Isaiah 53:1-8

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 8He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.

Thought For Today

Most Christians understand that these scriptures pertain to Jesus Christ.  This is the same passage of scripture the Ethiopian Eunuch recited in; (Acts 8 verses 26-40), when the Spirit of the Lord sent Philip the evangelist to his location. When we as Christian read these verses we renew our understanding of how much Jesus loves us. Jesus experienced rejection, affliction, sorrow, grief, bruising, pain, and suffering so that we can live freely. Just like our United States Veterans have also suffered so that we can live freely.  Isaiah asked us another question, "Who shall declare his generation?"  We need to know the history of Jesus’ generation?  Do you know what He did while He was alive?  Do you know any of the miracles that He performed while here?  Do you know who He is?  Are you aware of the power of His resurrection?  In order to be an effective witness for Jesus, we must know His birth, life, death, burial, and resurrection. This is all covered in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Jesus said that we are His witnesses and His servant. He desires that we know and believe that He is God (Isaiah 43:10-12).  We are also called to be His witnesses to the whole world.  Are you being effective in what He’s chosen you to do?  Let’s declare to our world who Jesus is.  It’s time we allow freedom to ring.  And it begins when we declare to the world who Jesus was.  If I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men unto me, Jesus said. The only way one can be set free is through a relationship with Jesus.

Sing this song with me:

If anybody knows about the love of Jesus, I do!
